International Red Cross & Red Crescent Society Conference

Jackson Peebles in front of Greater Kalamazoo Red Cross Chapter
I am thrilled to announce that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has allowed me the privilege of being one of three representatives of the United States and the American Red Cross at their Global Youth Conference due to my volunteer work and involvement at the university, community, and regional levels for the organization.  I will be traveling to Vienna, Austria for the conference, followed by a brief cultural tour of Europe.  I would like to extend my thanks to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Biological Sciences and Psychology Departments of Western Michigan University for their monetary support for conference expenses.  Additional support is being accepted here.

Flobots Invite Me Backstage

Peebles and McLachlan Backstage with the Flobots
The Flobots, a popular rock/hip-hop band with extremely active ties to activist organizations such as Flobots.org, their own non-profit dedicated to helping Denver schoolchildren through the utilization of community engagement, education, and music, and GivingFirst.org, an organization run by the Community First Foundation to support student scholarships and access to technology, welcomed me backstage after their October 27, 2012 concert in Lansing, Michigan, to discuss leadership and meet with the band members.

We were thrilled by both the concert and the opportunity to speak, at length, with all members of the band.  I'd like to extend a special thank you to Flobots Tour Manager Brigitte Wright of Brigitte Wright Management for the invitation.
